The 4 iPhone Security Settings You Should Turn On Right Now. The phone is now a portal to one's financial life and it needs to be secured like hell. 2FA is a must. Find My is a must. One other thing the article doesn't mention is that for iPhones, you can use the Screen Time setting to make it so that you can't change phone passwords or account information without yet another password. That's an extra layer of protection.

I read that Congress is getting ready to eliminate the switch from Standard Time to DST but they want to change it to permanent DST. There's a campaign to keep it to permanent Standard Time, and I agree with this.

Is OpenAI's mystery device just going to be robotic speaker? Looks like Jony Ive is involved with this, too. This may be his second flop.

Claude can reveal protected identifying information about you to others when you use it. Not good. Anthropic says they're aware and will patch it, but who knows?

Someone at Google DeepMind is unhappy with his employer's decision to work with the military. Just because you work at a company doesn't mean you get to run the company, or tell it what business decision to make or not. If you don't like it, quit. On the other hand, the military needs to develop their own tech instead of compelling private consumer-oriented companies to develop their weapons systems. Lots of things to be unhappy about here.

Well over half of Grok’s traffic is now driven by adult content — pornographic image and video generation, erotica, and sexually explicit AI “companion” chats — according to reports from former xAI employees and multiple investigations this summer. xAI has leaned into it, shipping “companion” avatars like the anime character “Ani” built for romantic and adult interaction.
I'd feel different if people were using Grok to create new software, or solve new Erdös problems, or sequence a cytokine receptor, or something. What are we spending all that energy and water resource on? What do you think, Elon?

And here's Linus Torvalds, frustrated about people hating AI. To him, it's a valid tool. Like it or leave it.
And no, AI isn't perfect. But Christ, anybody who points to the problems at AI had better be looking in the mirror and pointing at themselves at the same time.

Because it's not like natural intelligence is always all that great either.
Well said, Linus.

Rare Autopsy Finds Alzheimer's Drugs Only Work in Some Parts of The Brain. There's still a lot amyloid plaques left. But I'm confused – is the Aβ-amyloid theory of Alzheimer's disease still valid or not?
