Merrin is a private phone chatbot where conversations stay on your phone, instead of using a frontier model. I can't tell what model they're using, but since it's limited to a phone, I suspect that it's Gemma. It's a small model and if you don't stress it too much, it's passable. But I wouldn't trust it for advice on complex decision-making. Also, to replicate a conversation with a human being, it helps to know what's going on in the outside world, as well as having some understanding of the time, the weather and current events, etc. This might be a limitation with Merrin, although I can't tell. I think this is for people who can't set up something like this themselves.

Scientists discover that male and female skin play by different rules. The skin of female mice heal faster than that of male mice. Not sure if it's true in humans.

Four years too late. Science Translational Medicine is retracting an article entitled "SARS-CoV-2 S2–targeted vaccination elicits broadly neutralizing antibodies", because of fraud. I can't tell what made them retract it only now. But the damage has been done. Why did the author do it?

A SIMPLE PROOF OF THE RIEMANN HYPOTHESIS. I threw this into Astra and it immediately found flaws, one of them being a misapplication of L'Hôspital's rule over a non-continuous domain. You'd think the author would run a quick check before posting.

An overreliance on AI for answers erodes our cognitive fitness. When AI produces answers in seconds, we get used to that speed; anything that takes longer feels inefficient.
The human brain can seem inefficient.
