Big surprise: Some Ray-Ban Meta owners say their glasses are listening without being asked. Those things are bad news. Get as far away from them as you can.

Seven Coding Agents. One Chat Window. I've had this experience, too. One frontier model helps me build the start of an app that I want. The another model finds a big security flaw and helps me patch it. I've wondered about building a tool that incorporates the ideas of more than one frontier model as I go. It would be super expensive, as inference isn't cheap. It's worth the expense to pay for better models for sure, rather than spend your tokens on inferior models that can't quite figure out when an error it. But linking two frontier models is tricky since they have to see the same code, and they have different context windows sizes. Some models remember their input longer than others, suggesting that their memory management is better. But seven models is way too much. I wouldn't be able to afford something like 200,000 tokens per query.

New AI tool can predict cancer survival by a single patient selfie. No, no, no it can't. You can train any vision model against a dataset and get it to predict something. That doesn't mean it's valid. This reminds of the Chinese study that purported to be able to predict criminality just by someone's facial photograph. It's called overfitting, and obviously even the Chinese don't use it. It's just a model trained on a certain dataset. I'm pretty confident that in general use, that cancer predicting app will fail.

I saw this post on X about how the young French are Marxists and devoid of ambition. Whether or not one believes this, it is interesting that Marx and Engels made their fortune in the stock market and managed to live comfortably so that they could work on their socialist theory.
Then I read about how some lefties fled Trump’s America – now they regret it. Even Rosie O'Donnell returned to the U.S.
I posted earlier how The Oregonian, despite pointing out Tina Kotek's flaws, still grudgingly endorsed her. And then I read this:
Hickman says she’s watched homelessness explode, basic road maintenance go undone, and state funds dumped into nonprofits that don’t deliver. As a result, she is one of roughly 60% of likely voters who told OPB in a recent poll they have a negative impression of the governor.
But that won’t matter much when Hickman’s ballot arrives.
“I’m feeling defeated at the moment,” she said, “but I will only vote for Kotek.”
Hickman says her vote is “100%” based on opposing Trump
and this
Robert Lindstrom, a nonaffiliated voter from Eugene who identifies as liberal, told OPB he’s been dismayed to see the governor put forward “radical left” policies that he feels are aimed at pleasing her political base and not the state as a whole.
Democratic tendencies he views as soft on crime are one reason the retired electrician refuses to visit Portland anymore. But it’s Trump’s impact on national politics that has so dismayed Lindstrom that he says he may move out of the country.
Before he goes, the 59-year-old plans to vote Kotek.
Regarding the school shooting in Bend:
This is precisely why we need new leadership in Oregon's government.
More human remains found during homeless camp cleanup in Downtown Portland. Such a third world city.
