Vibe coding is turning the music gear world upside down. If this happened during my 20s, I'd be so consumed in this! It's interesting that the synth world seems to be turning back to the sounds of the 1990s, especially the Moog sounds and the DX7 sounds. I haven't heard anything as distinctly pleasant and emotionally connecting as these sounds. They were musical, unlike the noise that other electronic instruments put out. I never got into music that used the Buchla or Fairlight instruments. The Prophet and eMU had good sounds, but relatively few. Even the Roland and Korg sounds were nice but forgettable. I've looked at various VSTs, and while they can produce obnoxious sounds, I haven't found it easy to create a sound that would be considered musical or useful.

Ugh. Anthropic's Claude was able to access a Georgia voter database, bypassing a paywall. Just as their IPO is happening.

The Fall of Scientific American. There's so much science to discuss, and yet the editors want to talk about politics. How about leaving politics to other rags and just focus on science! Wouldn't that be great? How about not dumbing down topics for the bottom quintiles and making SA a great magazine again, like it was in the 1980s.

Why AI is getting good at math. And it's not just in math, but in other areas, too, such as medicine.

It's interesting to see what subreddits men and women tend to favor:
And the median age of a Redditor is 27 and 70% were 18 to 34. The demographic that knows just enough to be confident and dangerous. The fact that the most popular subreddits are of a game developer, fraternity life, Bangalore rentals, and more gaming forums confirms to me that Reddit is mainly a wasteland. At least the women get to talk about pregnancy and menopause. Menopause? I guess women Redditors are on the older side.

He's right. Peter Thiel says Apple has done 'nothing new' after Steve Jobs. Well, I'm hoping that the "make it thinner and add more pixels" era has died with the exit of Tim Cook. I think if Steve Jobs were alive, we'd have a new Machine Learning workstation machine. He'd definitely want to capture that market. Steve would probably have solved the DRAM supply chain bottleneck.

Wow, someone recreated a 1:1 model of Switzerland in Minecraft. We're lucky that there are people willing to spend a lot of time doing crazy stuff like this for our amusement. Right?
